How to distinguish the holding torque and positioning torque of stepper motor

Advantages of stepper motor For some low-power applications and simple internal control, micro-motors and drives, high-density torque stepping systems constitute a viable alternative to servo motors. Stepping is the only motion control method that can be run in open loop without position feedback. This makes the stepper motor system much simpler than the servo motion system, and the lower cost also adds to the appeal of the stepper motor.
Coupled with other continually improved designs, such as hardware miniaturization and high-density torque, stepper systems remain competitive in many motion applications that require lower speed and positioning accuracy. Step-based motion systems can achieve 0.75 kilowatts (1 horsepower) of power, but for most applications, they operate at lower output power.
    1. Maintaining the torque refers to the maximum torque that the motor can output when the motor's phase windings pass the rated current and is in the static lock state. It is one of the most important parameters when selecting a motor.
    2. Positioning torque refers to the torque generated by the permanent magnet material on the rotor of the hybrid motor when the motor windings of the motor are not energized and are in an open state. Generally, the positioning torque is much smaller than the holding torque. Whether or not there is a positioning torque is an important indicator that a hybrid stepping motor is different from a reactive stepping motor.
